The Power of Staying Young at Heart: Boost Your Health and Happiness
Spending quality time with my grandchildren always reminds me of the joy and vitality that comes from staying young at heart. They put their artistic skills to the test with this makeup session, and it was a blast!
Staying young at heart isn’t just fun—it has real health benefits! Research shows that engaging in playful activities, maintaining a positive outlook, and feeling younger than your actual age can boost your mood, reduce stress, and enhance overall well-being. I still play with my grandkids as if I were a child. They love it! We play pretend, play house, enjoy games, and dive into all sorts of fun activities. I'm not afraid to get dirty making mud pies, building sandcastles, or jumping on the trampoline. We never have to stop. Why should play stop?
A study published in Psychological Science found that individuals who feel younger than their chronological age tend to have better physical health and a lower risk of death. Another study in Health Psychology demonstrated that a positive attitude towards aging can improve physical functioning and encourage physical activity. Additionally, research in the Journal of Aging and Health indicated that feeling younger than one's actual age is associated with better mental health outcomes, including lower levels of depression and anxiety.
Remember, it's the little moments of joy that keep us feeling vibrant and alive. So, whether it's a playful makeover, a dance session, or simply laughing together, keep those youthful spirits high!
Best,
Jennifer
